Special Educational Needs
Special Needs
We have a Learning Support teacher who comes into school twice a week. Some children are given help in the classroom and some are withdrawn for help with language skills, particularly reading and spelling.
Arrangements can be made to provide help for those children who have particular needs.
Special Needs Policy
Our school aims to provide opportunities for all its pupils, including those with special education needs to:
· follow a broad, balanced, relevant curriculum (giving special help to those pupils who have particular difficulties).
· demonstrate their full potential recognising strengths as well as weaknesses.
· fully participate in school activities.
· meet, physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual needs.
· have equal opportunities.
Some children may have Special Educational Needs as a result of one or more of the following:
· general learning difficulties
· specific difficulties with literacy/numeracy/basic skills
· emotional, social or behavioural problems
· physical or sensory disability
· a speech or language difficulty
· a medical or health problem
Children with Special Needs are the responsibility of the whole school and are taught by all teachers. Their work is planned by all staff concerned working together.
We believe in working in partnership with parents, involving them in the development of their child's potential and progress.
