Tournament Information

 

St Joseph's Chess Club has entered the UK Chess challenge Tournament and will have to abide by the following rules:

 

1. Seven rounds will be played over seven weeks and each round shall last no more than 20 minutes.

 

2. Scoring in the tournament is as follows:

     3 points for a win

     2 points for a draw

     1 point for a loss

     0 points for an absence

 

3. All players will win prizes when the following scores are equalled or passed.

     3  points earns a badge

     6  points first gold spot

     9  points second gold spot

    11 points mascot

    12 points 3rd gold spot

    15 points 4th gold spot and a perky pawn keyring

    17 points qualifies for Mega Final

    18 points 5th gold spot

    21 points 6th gold spot (Jackspot)

    Players winning all their games and scoring 21 points win a specially designed chess bandana for 

    wearing, hanging, using as a tablecloth or chessboard in any location.

 

4. The overall school tournament winner will recieve a trophy to keep.

 

5. Qualifing rules for Mega Final

     Any player scoring 17 points or more will qualify for the area Mega Final.  Besides this the leading

     scorers in each school at under 7, 8,9,10 and 11 both boys and girls also qualify as long as they have

     played at least five of the seven rounds.

     (If there is a tie for a place the tied players all qualify).

 

6. Ages are calculated as at 01/09/05
